The purpose of the SPBH Emergency Services program is to provide crisis evaluation and referral to anyone in a psychiatric/substance abuse emergency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Family members are able to access Emergency Services on behalf of relatives in crisis.

Goal:

  • The goal of intervention in an emotional crisis is to preserve life, prevent harm to self and others, and resolve the crisis so the person can be restored to their previous level of functioning. SPBH is the only agency providing this service in Nassau County.


Services

  • Walk-in crisis appointments during regular business hours
  • On-call crisis counselor available by phone after hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Evaluation for involuntary assessment
  • Referral to (CSU) crisis stabilization unit
