Starting Point’s February Community Conversation To Focus on Using Simple Wellness Practices To Improve Your Health

Each year, millions of Americans make resolutions to lose weight, stop smoking, or make other lifestyle changes to improve their health. Yet, many people give up before January is even over because it is too difficult, time-consuming, or too costly.

Starting Point Behavioral Health’s upcoming Community Conversation,Getting Healthy: Simple Steps Anyone Can Take, will address the issue of improving your physical and mental well-being from the perspective of the average person using holistic approaches. The event takes place on Monday, February 25, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at The Peck Auditorium in Fernandina Beach.

Holistic wellness approaches include many basic steps that anyone can take without spending a lot of money. Some examples include: nutrition, aromatherapy, yoga, art therapy, massage, and chiropractic – simple steps you can take to improve your overall health.

Our panel of holistic practitioners will discuss simple wellness practices that the average person can do without a big investment. These steps can make big changes not only for your physical health, but for your mental and emotional health, as well.

The panel includes Jeanine Hoff, a mental health advocate, speaker, and founder of Where Is The Sunshine?, a local non-profit organization focused on mental health, and co-founder of the arts-based peer support initiative, The Studio: Jax.

Dr. Jayde Gray, DC is a chiropractor in Amelia Island and has been practicing for four years at 8 Flags Chiropractic. She is also a musician, bodybuilding competitor, and outdoors enthusiast.

Carmen Joyce is the founder of I Still Matter, a peer-run organization of volunteers who are either living with mental health challenges, or have friends or loved ones who are. She understands the relationship between art and healing and creates groups where individuals can explore difficult emotions while engaging in art creation. She also is an abstract artist and photographer.

Getting Healthy: Simple Steps Anyone Can Take, A Community Conversationis free and open to the public. In addition to the presentations, there will be time for those attending to ask questions and participate in the discussion. Light refreshments will be served and registration is requested.
