Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare Presents The Glow Up: A Walk to Shine a Light on Recovery from Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders
Yulee, Fla.: Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare’s inaugural Glow Up event will be held on Saturday, September 24th, 2022, in Central Park (1200 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034). This free event will feature a live band, live entertainment, 30+ vendors, food trucks, speakers, and culminate in an evening 5k walk in solidarity and celebration of the recovery community. Glow materials will be provided free of charge to all in attendance.
The Glow Up is a community-oriented, family friendly, festival and 5k walk to raise awareness of mental health and substance use challenges and to illuminate the message that recovery from these challenges is, in fact, possible. The term ‘Glow Up’ refers to any positive personal transformation. Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare invites everyone to attend and celebrate any positive transformation of family, friends, and the Nassau County and Northeast Florida recovery community.
“Traditionally, recovery is rooted in shame,” says Katrina Robinson Wheeler, Director of Outreach and Education at Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare. “Individuals who are recovering, or in need of recovery, are often ‘othered’ and misunderstood. We want to change that. This event is a chance to bring recovery to light – to talk about and celebrate the recovery journeys of real people, friends, family, and neighbors in Nassau County. The Glow Up is both a celebration and an inspiration. By pulling recovery out of the darkness, we believe we can inspire other community members to join in on their own path to healing.”
