Anger Management is a group for adults who want to better understand and manage their anger. This group is helpful for anyone dealing with emotional struggles, relationship issues, or legal requirements.
Purpose & Goals
This group teaches you how to control anger, think before acting, and express yourself in better ways.
Format & Approach
We use a workbook called Coping with Anger. Each week, you’ll complete a module, talk about it in group, and learn helpful tools. You must finish all 8 modules to complete the program.
Key Topics Covered
How to recognize your anger triggers
How to stay calm and think clearly
How to solve problems without yelling or fighting
How to speak up in a kind and clear way
How to take responsibility for your actions
What to Expect
Sessions last 90 minutes and include 6–12 people. You must attend regularly and complete all workbook activities to get your certificate.
This group meets the ‘Anger Management’ requirements from outside providers. We support the progress of Anger Management participants by providing progress updates to the outside providers on behalf of the individual.
Eligibility
This group is open to adults (18+). A referral from a therapist, probation officer, or other outside provider is helpful but not required.
If you're new to services, feel free to ask about group therapy during your first visit. You can also stop by the front desk—our team will be happy to connect you with someone who can help!
If you are currently engaged in services at Starting Point, you don't need a specific diagnosis to join—but you will need a referral. Please speak with a member of your treatment team for assistance with enrollment.
