Calm & Capable is a group for adults 18 and older who want help managing emotions, stress, or substance use. This group is great for anyone who wants to feel more in control.

Purpose & Goals

This group helps you build strong coping tools so you can feel more calm, focused, and confident during hard times.

Format & Approach

We meet every week to practice new skills, talk about life challenges, and support each other. You’ll learn through group discussions, activities, and worksheets using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

  • How to solve problems

  • How to manage strong emotions

  • How to stay focused and think clearly

  • How to handle anger and stress

What to Expect

When you come, you’ll meet friendly and down-to-earth people who are here to learn and grow, just like you. Together, we practice healthy ways to handle stress, take care of ourselves, and support one another. It’s a great place to build coping skills.

Eligibility

To join the Calm & Capable Group, you need to be 18 years of age or older.

If you're new to services, feel free to ask about group therapy during your first visit. You can also stop by the front desk—our team will be happy to connect you with someone who can help!

If you are currently engaged in services at Starting Point, you don't need a specific diagnosis to join—but you will need a referral. Please speak with a member of your treatment team for assistance with enrollment.
