Drive Forward is a group for adults 18 and older who have been required to attend because of a DUI or who want to make safer choices about drinking and driving.
Purpose & Goals
This group helps you understand how alcohol affects your thinking, feelings, and actions. You’ll learn new skills to stay safe and avoid drinking and driving.
Format & Approach
We meet once a week for 1 hour. You’ll talk with others, try out helpful exercises, and practice ways to handle hard situations. You can join at any time, and each session is helpful on its own.
Key Topics Covered
How alcohol affects your body and brain
How to handle stress and strong feelings
How to stay safe in social situations
How to think before you act
How to make good choices
What to Expect
You’ll be in a group with about 10 to 15 other people per facilitator. Most participants are required to attend as part of a legal or court-related process, but the group is open to anyone that is ready to learn and grow. We meet on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 PM at the Yulee office.
Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to join the ‘Drive Forward’ Group. If you're required to attend, you’ll need a referral from Northeast Florida Safety Council, Clearview, or Department of Corrections.
If you're new to services, feel free to ask about group therapy during your first visit. You can also stop by the front desk—our team will be happy to connect you with someone who can help!
If you are currently engaged in services at Starting Point, you don't need a specific diagnosis to join—but you will need a referral. Please speak with a member of your treatment team for assistance with enrollment.
