Steps to Stronger Choices is a group for adults who have a substance use disorder and who have been involved with the legal system or are working on making better life choices.

This group helps you think about your choices, understand what’s right and wrong, and build a better future. You’ll learn how to make stronger decisions and grow from past mistakes.

Format & Approach

Each week, you’ll complete a section in your workbook and share what you learned with the group. You must finish all 12 sections to complete the program.

Key Topics Covered

  • How to improve your thinking and actions

  • How to take responsibility for your choices

  • How to show empathy and respect

  • How to make positive changes in your life

What to Expect

You’ll have a workbook and get support from the group as you grow.

Eligibility

To join this group, you must be 18 or older, have a substance use disorder, and be involved in—or at risk of—legal trouble.

If you're new to services, feel free to ask about group therapy during your first visit. You can also stop by the front desk—our team will be happy to connect you with someone who can help!

If you are currently engaged in services at Starting Point, you don't need a specific diagnosis to join—but you will need a referral. Please speak with a member of your treatment team for assistance with enrollment.
