A Community Where Young People Feel Seen, Heard, and Supported

Youth mental health has become one of the most urgent issues facing families today. Across the country, young people are navigating increasing levels of stress, anxiety, depression, and emotional challenges. At Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare, we believe that every

child and teen deserves access to compassionate support, early intervention, and a safe place to talk about what they’re experiencing and, more importantly, feeling.

Starting Point has focused on strengthening the mental health and emotional well-being of youth across Northeast Florida. Our team works alongside families, schools, and community partners to ensure that children and teens get help and access to tools early, before challenges escalate into crises.

Why Early Intervention Matters

Research shows that half of all mental health conditions begin by age 14, but too often, young people go without the support they need. Early intervention can change the future of a child’s mental wellbeing by:

  • identifying concerns before they become emergencies

  • improving school performance and social relationships

  • reducing risk of long-term mental health challenges

  • supporting parents and caregivers

  • building resilience and coping skills

Starting Point’s approach focuses on meeting young people where they are, with tools, guidance, and care designed specifically for their age group and developmental stage.

Youth Counseling That Meets Kids Where They Are

Child, adolescent, and family counseling is one of Starting Point’s core services. Our trained therapists work with young people experiencing challenges such as:

  • anxiety or depression

  • behavioral or emotional struggles

  • family or peer conflict

  • school-related stress

  • trauma

  • grief or loss

Sessions are built on trust, safety, and connection. Counselors help young people develop healthier coping skills, understand their emotions, and feel empowered to ask for help when they need it. Parents and guardians are also included in the process, ensuring families feel supported and informed every step of the way.

Partnering With Schools to Make Support More Accessible

Schools play a critical role in identifying and addressing early signs of mental health concerns. Starting Point collaborates with school districts and educators across Nassau County to bring mental health resources directly to the students who need them.

These partnerships include:

  • on-site prevention

  • teen mental health first aid education

  • support for students and staff

  • TBOS Services (Therapeutic Behavioral On-Site Services for youth who qualify)

Programs That Strengthen Families

A child’s mental health is deeply connected to their home environment. That’s why Starting Point offers family-focused services that equip caregivers with tools to understand and respond to their child’s needs. We also recognize that a child’s mental health struggles can affect all members of the family, which is why family and caregiver support is crucial to opening trust and communication for everyone.

Family support may include:

  • parent workshops

  • family counseling

  • education on youth behavioral health

  • guidance on navigating school or medical systems

  • Strengthening Families groups and workshops

When families, parents, and caregivers feel empowered, everyone thrives.

Building Resilience Through Prevention and Education

Mental wellness isn’t just about treatment; it’s also about prevention. Starting Point provides community education and early intervention programs that teach young people valuable skills such as:

These programs give youth the foundation they need to face challenges with confidence and resilience.
